Sound system is an indispensable part when organizing events. A quality event sound system will fully convey the message in different events, big or small. But not everyone knows what equipment a professional event sound system includes. In the following article, HSV ProAVL will share all the information about all the necessary equipment in a professional sound system.

What does professional audio equipment include?

1. Source device (audio signal source)

The source device is also known by another name, the audio signal source. To put it more simply, it is the input sound. If you are not a professional user of music equipment, it is difficult to imagine and recognize what the source device is. But in fact, it is very simple to recognize, for example: piano, guitar, karaoke system, sound sources such as wireless microphones, wired microphones, computers, DVD players, etc. are the source devices you may know.

2. Audio mixer (audio signal mixer)

The mixer is also known as the sound control table or the sound mixing table, the mixer plays an extremely important role in professional audio equipment. The mixer is considered the soul of the sound system. The mixer is where the input audio signals are received, then the sound technician will process them to produce a single signal in mono or stereo format.

Currently, there are 2 types of mixers: digital mixer and analog mixer:

Analog mixers are commonly used in recording studios, cafes, bars, and small and medium-sized stage sound systems. The audio signal is transmitted to the mixer in the form of a sine wave graph, also known as an analog signal.

Digital mixer is a type of mixer that uses digital technology to digitize all of its signal transmission lines. Digital mixer is an almost indispensable device in today's modern sound system, processing to produce very precise, clear and clean sound. Digital mixer is adjusted and assisted through software installed on computers or other handheld devices such as tablets, phones, ... without having to stand directly in front of the mixer to adjust.

3. Signal processor

For professional sound systems, signal processors are no longer strange to users, but for simple sound systems, not everyone knows about this device.

The most common devices in signal processors usually include: digital reverb, mechanical reverb, Equalizer, Amplifier, etc.

The signal processor is put into use with the main task of the frequency bands that the listener wants. The signal processor is considered the most important device, equal to the speaker in terms of importance in any sound system. Because if the music source you use is not good music, is compressed a lot, then when going through signal processing devices such as digital echo, it will be adjusted to help the sound become a little better than the original music.

4. Compressor

The compressor in the sound system has the effect of restraining the sound frequency emitted, playing an important role in protecting the speaker system, avoiding the situation where the frequency is too high and will exceed the speaker capacity. The sound from the compressor emitted to the speaker will help the listener not to hear the sound harsh.

5. Amplifier (audio frequency activator)

Before being transferred to the speaker, the audio frequency is processed through the amplifier. The amplifier helps stimulate the audio frequency so that it can be emitted to the speaker. When activating the audio frequency, you should choose the type that is compatible with the speaker in terms of transmitting frequency and receiving frequency. The distance between the amplifiers should not be too far apart because it can affect the output sound quality.

6. Speaker

A loudspeaker is an electrical device whose function is to produce sound by converting electrical signals (electrical waves) into audio signals (sound waves) and reproducing the sound transmitted to the listener's ears. This is an important device of the sound system, responsible for producing sound, and is also the final step in the signal transmission process of the sound system.

Sound waves are vibrations of sound through particles of matter and transmitted to the listener's ear (Sound waves do not propagate in a vacuum).

Electric waves are the oscillations and changes of the power source during transmission, which are continuous cyclical or non-cyclical changes of voltage and current.

7. Karaoke microphone

The microphone has the function of capturing the singer's voice and then feeding it into devices such as a mixer or signal processor before pushing it out to the speaker. A quality microphone will help the singer feel more confident and comfortable when singing.

8. Audio accessories

Is the last device in a professional sound system. Audio accessories are often quite rich and diverse. Some basic audio accessories such as: jacks, line cable boxes, speaker stands, cabinets, signal wires, microphone stands, etc.
